Local-first by design.
SHA-Disk Analyzer is designed so that basic website use and browser-based folder analysis do not require an account. The local analyzer reads the files you explicitly select in your browser and processes their metadata on your device.
Browser folder analysis
Selected file contents are not uploaded to SHA-Disk or Firebase by the browser analyzer. The page uses the browser's file-selection APIs to calculate local statistics such as file sizes, extensions and modification dates. Closing or refreshing the page clears the current analysis unless a future feature explicitly tells you otherwise.
Optional account
If you choose to create or use an account, authentication is provided through Google Firebase Authentication. Depending on the sign-in method, Firebase may process identifiers such as your email address, display name, authentication provider and Firebase user ID. An account is not required for the public website or local folder analysis.
Analytics
Firebase Analytics is not started automatically for a new visitor. The website asks whether you want to allow anonymous usage analytics. Choosing “Essential only” leaves Analytics disabled. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so the site can remember it.
Future cloud features
Future SHA-Disk desktop features may optionally synchronize compact storage summaries, device labels, scan history and selected cryptographic file fingerprints so users can compare their own computers. The design goal is to keep actual files local. Cloud synchronization will be optional and documented before release.
Theme and site preferences
The selected visual theme and analytics-consent preference are stored locally in your browser. These settings are used only to preserve your experience across visits.
Account deletion
Online account-management and deletion controls are planned before cloud synchronization is released publicly. Until cloud data is enabled, the web account is limited to authentication functionality.
Contact
SHA-Disk Analyzer is a Shadowless Studios project. Additional legal and contact information will be added before the public desktop release.
